Biography:
An award-winning writer, Kathy started as a freelance journalist writing Arts & Entertainment articles for The Daily, The Northwest Asian Weekly and the International Examiner, as well as reviewing for the Seattle Fringe Theatre Festival. Her scripts have been produced by the Northwest Asian American Theatre, Vancouver Asian Canadian Theatre, and featured at the Seattle Fringe Theatre Festival and 14/48. Her script B4 was selected as part of the recent International Centre for Women Playwrights’ Chicago Her-rah Festival 2007 and it also received Honorable Mention in New York's New Works of Merit Playwriting Contest. She was also nominated and selected for The Dramatist Magazine’s July/August cover story as one of “50 to Watch.” She was selected by a national panel as a featured playwright for the National Asian American Theatre Conference at The Guthrie in 2008 and also showcased at Mixed Blood Theatre as one of eight Writer/Performers. She created the concept for Sex in Seattle along with her friend Moi and has written ten scripts for the episodic series. As an artist she has been honored by the National Association of Asian American Professionals in Seattle as their Artist of the Year in 2003 and by ArtsFund that same year. By day she works for the Mayor's Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs.
